This course, as the first part of the research course sequence for Social Work doctoral students, will provide an overview of the research questions and designs in Social Work which will be appropriately addressed using both qualitative and qualitative methods. These two distinct, yet complementary, methods are covered at all stages of the reserch process, while focusing a study, developing measurements, sampling, data collection and analysis, and finally, writing the reports. Various research knowledge and techniques will be reviewed in the assigned readings, and the issues involving social work research will be disscussed internationally as well as locally, so that the students will hopely become the critical consumers of research materials, and also the qualified producers of various research activities.
